Approximate true color image of Io's north polar region during the PJ57 flyby. The Jupiter-lit shadowed side was slightly brightened to bring out additional details. The image was assembled from the raw framelets using a custom python script for preprocessing and PTGui for stitching.

The colors were calibrated to the CIE1931 color system using the spectral sensitivities of the JunoCam instrument and a full disk surface reflectance spectrum (Spencer et. al. 1995). The color calibration was computed with DCamProf. The calibration is only approximate (a dE of 8 remains for the referenced Io spectrum), because JunoCam is too sensitive to near infrared light compared to the human eye.
