An intricate network of fractures, ridges and darker bands crosses Europa’s icy surface, observed by NASA’s Juno spacecraft during its close flyby on September 29, 2022.

This mosaic was independently reconstructed from four original JunoCam observations acquired during perijove 45. The individual colour-filter images were aligned and projected into a common viewing geometry using the camera model and spacecraft navigation data, then combined to extend the visible coverage.

Brightness differences between observations were balanced, and residual processing artifacts were reduced. I refined the colour and contrast to bring out the intersecting surface patterns and subtle tonal variations across the ice.

Colours and contrast are enhanced. Spatial detail varies across the mosaic.
