Swirling storms and intricate cloud filaments in Jupiter’s northern hemisphere, captured by JunoCam on 29 November 2021 during Juno’s 38th close flyby. Small, bright cloud formations cast shadows onto the surrounding cloud deck, revealing some of the atmosphere’s vertical structure.

This image was independently reconstructed from the original JunoCam colour framelets and geometrically reprojected. Colour and contrast were enhanced to bring out atmospheric structures, followed by additional tonal adjustments for this final presentation.

Image data: NASA/JPL-Caltech/SwRI/MSSS.

Processing: Thomas Thomopoulos.

The processing software was developed and run with AI assistance. The reconstruction uses original JunoCam measurements, without generative image synthesis or added surface textures.
