About This Round
Often on a PJ pass we are doing more than just imaging Jupiter. There might be moons, we might be testing methane image configurations, or imaging the rings. On this pass we are simply imaging Jupiter. With this single-minded focus we have more data volume to devote to Jupiter images. We are using that extra capacity to space the images more closely and do less image compression.

About Perijove Predict Maps

Every perijove pass we have the challenge of predicting where Points of Interest will be as the different zones of the planet have different wind velocities. This map shows our effort to rotate the latitudinal zones with their different wind speeds to predict what will be under the Juno groundtrack.

Winner Selection
Juno approaches Jupiter from the night side so we begin with lightning search images. The spacecraft comes in close over the north pole with perijove now at 28 N latitude. Juno recedes in the south slowly, then returns to the nightside, where we will take more lightning search images.
