Description
3.42-micron observation of Jupiter taken by the staff of NASA's Infrared Telescope Facility (IRTF) using the guide camera of the SpeX facility infrared spectrometer as a part of a program to characterize atmospheric variability in Jupiter to support the Juno mission. This wavelength isolates auroral emission from lines of H3+ in Jupiter's thermosphere. Image taken through cirrus.
