Description
5.10-micron filtered image of Jupiter taken by the staff of NASA's Infrared Telescope Facility (IRTF) using the guide camera of the SpeX facility infrared spectrometer as a part of a program to characterize atmospheric variability in Jupiter to support the Juno mission. This filter is sensitive to very little sunlight reflected from clouds, but mostly to thermal emission from clouds as deep or deeper than the 2-3 bar pressure level. The Great Red Spot (GRS) can be seen rotating off the dusk terminator.
